Winner of The News Tribune’s Girls Athlete of the Week (April 14 to 19)

Vivien Sweet, Peninsula softball

The Seahawks sophomore threw a complete game and homered at the plate in Thursday’s 7-1 win over Silas, surrendering six hits and one unearned run with four walks and four strikeouts.

Abby Akins, White River softball — Junior 3B went 4-for-4 with a triple, three runs, and five RBI in Wednesday’s 14-1 win over Thomas Jefferson.

Gracey Barnes, Capital softball — Senior 2B went 3-for-4 with two runs and seven RBI in Monday’s 19-5 win over Lincoln.

Aspyn Evanson, Bonney Lake softball — Senior threw a five-inning shutout (3 H, 2 BB, 5 K) and doubled at the plate (1-for-3, RBI) in Tuesday’s 10-0 win over South Kitsap.

Zoe Fields, Tumwater softball — Center fielder hit a walk-off double in the 10th inning of Wednesday’s 4-2 win over Aberdeen.

Mallory Geving, Fife softball — Junior threw a complete-game shutout (0 BB, 9 K) in Friday’s 10-1 win over Thomas Jefferson and went 4-for-4 at the plate with a double and two RBI.

Gabby Greenwood, Kentwood softball — Junior threw five shutout innings and struck out 13 batters (4 H, 2 BB) in Tuesday’s 11-0 win over Auburn, adding two triples and four runs at the plate. On Thursday, struck out 14 across a one-run complete game in 7-3 win over Kennedy Catholic.

Ella Ferguson, Tumwater softball — T-Birds ace threw a 10-inning complete game in Wednesday’s 4-2 win over Aberdeen, allowing seven hits and one earned run with seven walks and 15 strikeouts across 184 pitches. A day earlier, Ferguson threw a seven-inning shutout (7 H, 2 BB, 5 K) in 6-0 win over Centralia.

Sara Halterman, North Thurston softball — Sophomore right fielder homered in Thursday’s 30-14 win over Mount Tahoma, finishing 3-for-5 with three runs and four RBI.

Ashlyn Harlos, Sumner softball — Threw five shutout innings in Tuesday’s 12-0 win over Bethel, allowing one hit with no walks and eight strikeouts. Went 1-for-3 at the plate with a run and two RBI.

Alyssa Harris, Enumclaw softball — Senior struck out 19 batters across a complete game (1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 BB) in Monday’s 11-1 win over Decatur. On Tuesday, Harris struck out 14 in another complete-game effort over Auburn Mountainview (7-1 W).

Lily Hart, Stadium softball — Junior 1B hit an inside-the-park grand slam in Thursday’s 18-1 win over Auburn, finishing 1-for-1 with two walks, two runs, and five RBI. In Tuesday’s 11-5 win over Kentridge, threw a complete game (9 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 K) and went 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles and three RBI.

Kalani Higa, Tahoma softball — Catcher went 3-for-4 with two home runs (2 RBI) in Tuesday’s 8-0 win over Kennedy Catholic.

Austin Hitchner, Yelm softball — Senior threw a complete game (6 H, 4 ER, 6 BB, 9 K) and went 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run and double in Wednesday’s 12-6 win over South Kitsap.

Jessika Jennings, Graham-Kapowsin softball — In win over Emerald Ridge, went 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and two RBI. On the mound, pitched seven innings, allowing one run and striking out five. Also pitched in win over Sumner, racking up 11 strikeouts over seven innings. Against Bethel on Friday, hit two home runs with six RBI and a walk.

Kelsey Jones, Tahoma softball — Freshman 1B homered twice in Thursday’s 20-0 win over Mount Rainier, finishing 2-for-3 with three runs and six RBI. On Wednesday, went 2-for-2 with a triple and four RBI in 17-0 win over Auburn.

Leila Kennach, Franklin Pierce softball — Shortstop hit a grand slam and went 2-for-4 with a season-high eight RBI in Tuesday’s 14-2 win over Fife.

Ava Lim, Enumclaw softball — Junior shortstop finished a double shy of the cycle in Monday’s 11-1 win over Decatur, going 3-for-5 with a home run, triple, and six RBI.

Brooke Lindenmuth, Fife softball — Center fielder went 3-for-3 with four runs and four RBI in Thursday’s 18-0 win over Steilacoom.

Meeghan Meagher, Federal Way softball — Senior 1B hit for the cycle (single, two doubles, triple, home run) and went 5-for-5 with four runs and three RBI in Thursday’s 20-0 win over Kent-Meridian.

Natalie Medalia, Silas softball — Junior 3B went 4-for-4 with three runs and four RBI in Tuesday’s 18-7 win over Lakes, and earned the win for the Rams in 3 ⅓ innings of relief (3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K).

Sierra Murray, Rogers softball — Freshman threw a complete-game shutout in Tuesday’s 1-0 win over Yelm, allowing three hits with no walks and nine strikeouts, then struck out 12 batters across seven strong frames (1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB) in Thursday’s 6-1 win over Olympia.

Savanna Newville, Lakes softball — Junior catcher homered and finished a triple shy of the cycle in Monday’s 17-1 win over Mount Tahoma, going 3-for-3 with a walk, four runs, and four RBI. Entered the circle for a clean fifth inning of relief (1 BB, 1 K).

Hannah Potter, Auburn Riverside softball — Leadoff catcher finished a double shy of the cycle in Tuesday’s 20-5 win over Mount Rainier, going 3-for-4 with a home run, triple, and three RBI.

Sydney Potvin, Olympia softball — Sophomore 1B homered in Friday’s 5-2 win over Bonney Lake, finishing 2-for-2 with a run and three RBI.

Alexa Ramirez, Tahoma softball — In three combined starts (3 W, 13 IP), the sophomore notched three shutout efforts and struck out 25 batters with a combined five hits and five walks allowed in wins over Kennedy Catholic, Auburn, and Mount Rainier.

Abygale Redwine, Emerald Ridge softball — Senior 1B scored twice and went 2-for-3 with a double, walk, and RBI in Friday’s 5-2 win over Puyallup.

Kennedy Selander, White River softball — Senior shortstop led the Hornets to a 3-0 week, hitting .667 with three home runs, a triple, eight RBI, nine runs scored and three stolen bases.

Kiley Sledge, Franklin Pierce softball — Sophomore threw five solid frames (1 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K) and homered at the plate in Tuesday’s 14-2 win over Fife, then went 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI in Thursday’s 23-3 win over Foss.

Vivien Sweet, Peninsula softball — Sophomore threw a complete game and homered at the plate in Thursday’s 7-1 win over Silas, surrendering six hits and one unearned run with four walks and four strikeouts.

Kiera Thomas, Puyallup softball — Senior right-hander threw two perfect innings (5 K) and launched a two-run homer in Thursday’s 20-0 win over Spanaway Lake.

Anna Thweatt, Sumner softball — Leadoff center fielder homered in Monday’s 12-2 win over Timberline and finished 2-for-3 with a walk, four runs, and three RBI. On Tuesday, went 3-for-4 with three RBI in 12-0 win over Bethel.

Payton Walling, Rogers softball — Center fielder homered in Thursday’s 6-1 win over Olympia, finishing 2-for-3 with a walk, RBI, and two runs.

Joy Wilde, Lincoln softball — Senior went 3-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and three RBI in Thursday’s 9-7 win over Lakes.

Alanna Wirtala, Emerald Ridge softball — Senior right-hander delivered an eight-inning complete game (9 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 10 K) and plated two runs with the game-winning double in extras, lifting the Jaguars over Puyallup on the road, 5-2, on Friday.
