Winner of The News Tribune’s Girls Athlete of the Week (Nov. 10 to 15)
Voting is now closed for The News Tribune’s Girls Athlete of the Week for contests played between Nov. 10-15. Thanks to everyone who voted and supported local student-athletes.
This week’s winner is:
Korbyn Hansen, Emerald Ridge volleyball
The junior outside hitter had 19 kills with eight digs in a district win over Auburn Riverside and nine kills with 15 digs in a district win over Graham-Kapowsin on Friday, lifting the Jaguars into the 4A state tournament.

Kayla Baker, Curtis volleyball — Vikings junior posted 15 kills (.577 hit percentage) without an error, adding three aces to lift Curtis to the 4A District 3/4 title on Saturday. In a four-set semifinal win over Olympia, Baker hit .456 with 5.3 kills per set.
Addy Conner, North Thurston volleyball — The senior outside hitter’s 75 total kills in three district games guided the Rams to the District 3 3A title on Saturday.
Ava Field, Steilacoom swimming — Sentinels senior won 2A state titles in the 100-yard backstroke (57.44) and 200-yard individual medley (2:07.52) at the King County Aquatics Center on Saturday.
Ellie Field, Steilacoom swimming — Sentinels freshman won the 2A state title in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.06) at the King County Aquatics Center on Saturday.

Elizabeth Hayes, Gig Harbor soccer — Senior forward scored twice with an assist in Friday’s 8-2 state win over Oak Harbor, then notched a hat trick with all three Tides goals in Saturday’s 4-3 state loss to Liberty.
Karin Heikkila, Gig Harbor soccer — Senior forward scored twice with an assist in Friday’s 8-2 state win over Oak Harbor.
Tessa Hurguy, South Kitsap swimming — Wolves freshman won the 4A state title in the 200-yard individual medley (2:04.73) at the King County Aquatics Center on Saturday.
Charlie Leipheimer, Tahoma volleyball — Senior outside hitter tallied 22 kills, 13 digs, and four aces in Friday’s district win over Auburn Riverside, then had 14 kills and 11 digs in Saturday’s four-set district sweep over Kennedy Catholic.
Nadia Schwab, Gig Harbor soccer — Sophomore forward had two goals with an assist in Friday’s 8-2 state win over Oak Harbor.
Anna Sheeran, North Thurston volleyball — The senior libero powered North Thurston’s defense with 63 total digs in three district games, helping capture the District 3 3A title on Saturday.
Kaitlyn Vu, Kennedy Catholic swimming — Lancers senior won the 4A state title in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.99) at the King County Aquatics Center on Saturday.
Audrey Welfare, Curtis swimming — Vikings freshman set a school record in the 200 freestyle (1:51.13), placing third at the 4A state meet at the King County Aquatics Center on Saturday. In the 500 freestyle, Welfare broke her own school record (4:57.83) for second place and was part of two Curtis relays that finished fourth (200 free relay) and third (400 free relay).
Hailey Weiler, Kennedy Catholic swimming — Lancers senior won 4A state titles in the 100-yard backstroke (55.01) and 100-yard freestyle (50.31) at the King County Aquatics Center on Saturday.
