High school girls soccer: The News Tribune’s 2025 All-Area team

These were the top high school girls soccer players in the South Sound this fall.

First- and second-team selections for The News Tribune’s 2025 All-Area high school girls soccer team.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Ella Bach, Puyallup, sr. — The News Tribune’s All-Area player of the year for the second straight season, Bach fought through constant double teams to tally a team-leading 19 goals and 14 assists. 4A SPSL offensive MVP is a Clemson signee.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Alyssa Hurt, Tahoma — Coached the Bears to a 20-2-1 record, the Class 4A District 3/4 title and all the way to the 4A state championship game, where Tahoma fell to Mount Si. Tahoma collected wins over Richland, Woodinville and Skyview in the state tournament.

FIRST TEAM

FORWARDS

Karin Heikkila, Gig Harbor, sr. — Lightning-quick forward was a constant threat in front of the net for the Tides, scoring 18 goals and tallying 17 assists. 3A PSL Narrows MVP is a Samford (Birmingham, Alabama) commit.

Sutton Kelsey, Enumclaw, sr. — 3A NPSL MVP scored 31 goals and had 10 assists. Lauded by coach Shawn Tobius for her high soccer IQ and selfless mentality. Chico State commit.

Olivia Lopez, Sumner, sr. — 4A SPSL first-team selection. Was team’s leading scorer and points getter, tallying 10 goals and 12 assists and leading Sumner to the 4A state tournament. WSU commit.

Nora Sutherland, Peninsula, sr. — 3A PSL Nisqually MVP scored 18 goals and tallied five assists for the Seahawks. Praised by Seahawks’ coach Jose Brambila for her decision making in tight spaces and ability on the ball.

Elizabeth Wiggs, Tahoma, sr. — Bears’ coach Alyssa Hurt calls this star forward a “game changer” with a high work rate and “relentless mindset” for the 4A state runner-up Bears. She scored 19 goals and had seven assists, scoring in 15 of the team’s games this season. Montana commit.

MIDFIELDERS

Ashley Gallagher, Steilacoom, soph. — 2A SPSL MVP led the team with 21 goals. Played every minute of every game and has led the Sentinels in goals in both of her two high school seasons.

Elizabeth Hayes, Gig Harbor, sr. — One of several key players on this year’s 3A PSL championship team, Hayes scored 12 goals and had nine assists for the Tides. Two-time TNT All-Area first-team selection.

Isa Ostrander, Puyallup, fr. — 4A SPSL first-team selection shined in her debut season, racking up 15 goals and five assists for the Vikings. Unique drive to get into scoring positions, per coach Matt White.

Kayla Pope, Tumwater, sr. — Unanimous 2A EvCo MVP had nine goals and 10 assists and was the focal point of every opponent’s defensive gameplan. Versatile player played on all levels of the field.

Mary Rodarte, Orting, jr. — 2A SPSL offensive player of the year was the engine of the Cardinals’ attack, scoring 26 goals and adding 15 assists this season. Two-time TNT All-Area first-team selection.

DEFENDERS

Pestle Agana, Central Kitsap, sr. — 3A PSL Narrows defensive MVP was four-year starter for Cougars and key part of team’s run to 3A state tournament quarterfinals.

Liv Lorella, Curtis, jr. — 4A SPSL defensive MVP was an elite 1v1 defender, lauded by coach Frank Hankel for her ability to read the game, anticipation, toughness and reliability on the back line. Had seven assists on the season. Three-time all-league selection is an Eastern Washington commit.

Khloe Mahaffey, Sumner, sr. — 4A SPSL first-team selection and left defender was a difference maker on both ends, getting forward in the attack when needed, scoring six goals with five assists. Part of a defense that conceded just 10 goals in 19 games. SPU commit.

Haley Millan, Stadium, sr. — 4A NPSL player of the year was a lockdown center back for the Tigers, leading a rebuilt defense that allowed 11 goals in 14 games, with five clean sheets. Linfield commit.

Sage Sturrock, Gig Harbor, sr. — 3A PSL Narrows first-team selection was an “unbeatable defender,” per Tides’ coach Robyn Saathoff. Southeastern Louisiana commit.

GOALKEEPER

Devon Bankers, Sumner, jr. — 4A SPSL first-team selection posted 11 shutouts for the Spartans, allowing just 10 goals in 19 games. Regarded as the 4A SPSL’s best keeper by multiple coaches.
