TNT ANALYSIS

MANLEY CAPTURES THREE-PEAT

Another year, another Manley title. Franklin Pierce’s Bryson Allen and Auburn’s Lucas Whitehall-Gilkes were safe early-round picks and were as productive as expected, but the best value in this year’s draft — by far — was Sumner’s Lance McGee in the third round. His 527.1 points were far more than any other player on either roster. It was a balanced effort, though, with Allen (385) and Whitehall-Gilkes (320.4) also surpassing 300 points for Team Manley.

McGEE TOPS SOUTH SOUND IN FANTASY POINTS

2,489 rushing yards. 43 total touchdowns. A state-championship record 368 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Team Manley’s MVP was the South Sound’s Fantasy MVP, too, bulldozing his way to 527.1 PPR points throughout a historic season that doesn’t come around often. The News Tribune’s All-Area co-Player of the Year saved his best for last, erupting for a five-touchdown game in a 4A semifinal win over No. 1 Puyallup before his record-breaking night at Husky Stadium.

The South Sound’s top single-season performances for Team Manley and Team Wicke include:

Sumner RB Lance McGee — 527.1 points

Franklin Pierce RB Bryson Allen — 385 points

Life Christian Academy QB Jabez Boyd — 373.98 points

Auburn WR Lucas Whitehall-Gilkes — 320.4 points

Graham-Kapowsin QB AJ Tuivaiave — 288.46 points

IN HINDSIGHT

It was the year of the running back in the South Sound — just ask Team Manley’s Lance McGee or Bryson Allen — and plenty more were mistakenly left on our board. Puyallup RB and TNT All-Area selection Briytan Bailey was our biggest snub, the sophomore with 1,696 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns for a high-octane Vikings offense. His 322.6 PPR points this fall ranked as the South Sound’s fantasy RB3.

Another miss that both Team Manley and Team Wicke want back: Lincoln RB Jadeon Scranton assumed a workhorse role in Tacoma, a physical runner with 1,354 yards and 25 touchdowns for the Abes. The 6-foot-2 senior totaled 314 PPR points this fall, the South Sound’s RB4.
