Winner of The News Tribune’s Girls Athlete of the Week (Jan. 26 to 31)
Voting is now closed for The News Tribune’s Girls Athlete of the Week for contests played between Jan. 26-31. Thanks to everyone who voted and supported local student-athletes.
This week’s winner is:
Ashlynn O’Hara, Capital flag football
In Friday’s 3A district playoffs, the junior receiver had six catches for 63 yards and a touchdown with seven flag pulls in an opening-round win over Gig Harbor. O’Hara totaled five touchdowns in an upset win over Mount Tahoma, taking four catches for 50 yards and two scores with three interception returns for touchdowns that clinched Capital’s state berth. In an overtime, district semifinal loss to White River on Saturday, O’Hara added 10 catches for 105 yards and two touchdowns with 15 flag pulls.

Lily Blake, Tumwater powerlifting — T-Birds junior (148-pound class) was crowned the overall female champion at Saturday’s Olympia Powerlifting Open with a 265-pound squat, 85-pound bench press, and 345-pound deadlift. Blake (332.18 DOTS) totaled over 100 pounds more than the second-place finisher at Olympia High School.
Shayla Cordis, North Thurston basketball — Senior guard posted a 19-point, 10-steal double-double with six rebounds and five assists in Monday’s win over Peninsula.
Jayden Fitzgerald, Kennedy Catholic basketball — Sophomore guard tallied 21 points, nine rebounds, four steals, and two assists in Monday’s win over Auburn Riverside.
Logan Girias, Enumclaw basketball — Sophomore guard had 21 points, three assists, and two steals in Tuesday’s win over Kentlake.
Avery Hansen, Auburn basketball — Junior guard had 24 points in Friday’s win over Tahoma.
Andralynne Harless, Clover Park basketball — Senior forward posted a 14-point, 11-rebound double-double with two steals in Friday’s win over Washington, adding 13 points and eight rebounds in Tuesday’s loss to Fife.
Ehmarii McChristian, Lakes basketball — Junior guard dropped 21 points with seven steals, four rebounds, and three assists in Friday’s win over Timberline, adding 18 points, six rebounds, and four steals in Wednesday’s win over River Ridge.
Kaliyah Miller, Gig Harbor basketball — Senior guard posted a 14-point, 12-rebound double-double with nine assists, three steals, and a block in Wednesday’s win over Silas, adding 12 points and five steals in Friday’s win over Bellarmine Prep.
Brooklynn Murray, Bellarmine Prep basketball — Freshman forward had 15 points with eight rebounds, two blocks, and two steals in Monday’s win over Central Kitsap, then posted a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double with three blocks and two steals in Wednesday’s win over Lincoln.
Bailey Nettleton, Tahoma basketball — Senior guard had 21 points, three rebounds, and three assists in Monday’s win over Kentridge, adding 10 points and six rebounds in Friday’s loss to Auburn.

Brandi Stanford, River Ridge basketball — Senior guard dropped 32 points with eight rebounds and three steals in Wednesday’s loss to Lakes, then had 22 points, nine steals, six assists, and four rebounds in Friday’s win over Peninsula.
