Winner of The News Tribune’s Boys Athlete of the Week (March 30 to April 4)

Brody Santman, Sumner baseball

The sophomore left-hander threw a complete-game shutout in Friday’s 5-0 win over Olympia, allowing three hits with two walks and 11 strikeouts. The leadoff hitter went 2-for-4 at the plate.

Zach Albright, North Thurston baseball — Second baseman went 2-for-2 with a two-run triple, two walks, three runs, and three RBI in Tuesday’s 10-6 win over Timberline.

Quentin Bockhorn, Gig Harbor baseball — Senior right-hander threw six shutout innings in Tuesday’s 5-0 win over Silas, surrendering two hits and three walks with five strikeouts.

Leo Bosh, Central Kitsap baseball — Third baseman hit a grand slam in Saturday’s 11-8 win over Bellarmine Prep, going 3-for-3 with two walks, two runs and five RBI. Bosh went 6-for-7 in two games (1-1) against the Lions last week.

Neal Burtis, Tahoma baseball — Senior left-hander threw five shutout innings in Tuesday’s win over Kennedy Catholic, allowing five hits with one walk and five strikeouts. Burtis added two hits, one walk, three runs, and one RBI at the plate.

Kaleb Copeland, Peninsula baseball — Shortstop homered in Tuesday’s win over River Ridge and threw five strong innings (5 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 6 K) in Thursday’s win over River Ridge.

Xander Cypher, Sumner baseball — Senior right-hander threw five shutout innings in Tuesday’s 8-0 win over South Kitsap, allowing four hits and no runs with two walks and eight strikeouts.

Jack Fenton, Mount Rainier baseball — Senior right-hander earned the win on the mound (6 IP, 4 ER, 3 BB, 5 K) and delivered a bases-clearing, three-run double with a walk over Kentwood on Wednesday.

Tanner Fricke, Capital soccer — Senior forward scored in back-to-back wins over North Thurston on Tuesday (one goal) and Lakes on Thursday (one goal, one assist).

Brody Gadberry, South Kitsap baseball — Junior right-hander tossed a complete game in Thursday’s 2-1 win over Sumner, allowing three hits and one run (none earned) with one walk and four strikeouts.

Jaxon Harpel, Franklin Pierce baseball — Senior right-hander threw five shutout innings in Tuesday’s win over Foss, allowing one hit with no walks and 11 strikeouts. In Wednesday’s win over the Falcons, Harpel went 2-for-2 at the plate with a double, walk, three runs, and two RBI.

Jackson Hordyk, Curtis baseball — Sophomore right-hander threw a complete-game one-hitter in Friday’s win over Spanaway Lake, allowing one hit with no walks and six strikeouts. He threw 48 pitches, 36 for strikes.

Braeden Konrad, Tumwater baseball — Senior right-hander threw four hitless innings in Tuesday’s 4-1 win over Black Hills, part of a combined no-hitter with Baylor Olson and Luke Overbay. Konrad allowed one unearned run with four walks and five strikeouts.

Matthew Ledbetter, Kentlake baseball — Senior right-hander threw six strong innings in Monday’s 7-1 win over Enumclaw, allowing three hits and one earned run with one walk and 11 strikeouts.

Garrett Liedes, Graham-Kapowsin baseball — Senior right-hander threw seven strong innings in Tuesday’s 3-1 win over Bethel, allowing four hits and one run (none earned) with no walks and five strikeouts. Liedes added a sacrifice fly at the plate.

Lucas Miller, Bonney Lake baseball — Senior right-hander threw a five-inning no-hitter (2 BB, 7 K) and went 4-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and four RBI in Wednesday’s win over Spanaway Lake.

Christopher Moore, Kentlake baseball — Shortstop went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Monday’s 7-1 win over Enumclaw.

Parker Myers, Yelm baseball — Leadoff shortstop went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI in Wednesday’s 5-2 win over Olympia.

Cade Owen, Silas baseball — Senior right-hander threw four no-hit relief innings (3 BB, 8 K) and went 2-for-4 with a double at the plate in Wednesday’s 9-3 win over Gig Harbor.

William Ross, Lincoln baseball — Junior right-hander no-hit rival Mount Tahoma on Tuesday, walking one with 14 strikeouts across five innings. Ross added two hits in Wednesday’s win over the T-Birds.

Brody Santman, Sumner baseball — Sophomore left-hander threw a complete-game shutout in Friday’s 5-0 win over Olympia, allowing three hits with two walks and 11 strikeouts. The leadoff hitter went 2-for-4 at the plate.

Brodie Schessler, South Kitsap baseball — Senior right-hander threw 6 ⅓ shutout innings in Friday’s win over Bethel, surrendering two hits with one walk and seven strikeouts.

Ben Smith, Eatonville baseball — Sophomore right-hander threw five shutout innings (2 H, 2 BB, 11 K) and went 4-for-4 with three RBI at the plate in Tuesday’s 12-0 win over Clover Park.

Trey Smith, Franklin Pierce baseball — In two wins over Foss, the senior catcher went a combined 4-for-6 with a home run, two walks, three doubles, four runs, and seven RBI.

Milo Tolbert, Olympia baseball — Right fielder went 3-for-4 with a triple, three runs, and two RBI in Monday’s 11-1 win over Yelm.

Beckett Turnbow, Tahoma baseball — Clean-up shortstop homered in Tuesday’s 13-0 win over Kennedy Catholic, going 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI. In Friday’s win over Kentlake, Turnbow added a double, triple, and three RBI at the plate, then struck out the side in one scoreless relief inning.

Johnny Turner, Orting baseball — Cardinals designated hitter went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs, and three RBI in Thursday’s 11-0 win over Washington.

Ethan West, Stadium baseball — Junior right-hander tossed a complete game (7 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 4 BB, 4 K) and earned the win over Auburn Riverside, 3-2, on Thursday.

Jimmy Womach, Tumwater baseball — Catcher homered in back-to-back wins over rival Black Hills on Tuesday and Wednesday, batting a combined 2-for-5 with two homers and two RBI.
