Vote now for The News Tribune’s Baseball Athlete of the Week for contests played between April 27-May 2. Voting will remain open until noon Thursday.

The poll is located below. You can read about all of the candidates and their accomplishments below.

Quentin Bockhorn, Gig Harbor — Senior right-hander threw 6 ⅔ shutout innings over rival Peninsula, allowing four hits and three walks with five strikeouts in Tuesday’s 1-0 win.

Preston Bolam, Emerald Ridge — Junior center fielder homered in Tuesday’s win over Spanaway Lake and went 4-for-4 with three runs and four RBI.

Jack Bowser, North Thurston — The left fielder’s go-ahead, RBI double in the 10th inning lifted the Rams over Bellarmine Prep, 5-4, on Tuesday.

Jackson Brady, Central Kitsap — Senior right-hander tossed a complete game (7 IP) in Tuesday’s 4-2 win over Lakes, allowing four hits and two runs (one earned) with one walk and 13 strikeouts.

Easton Bramble, Capital — Sophomore threw four no-hit innings (0 R, 2 BB, 4 K) and went 2-for-4 with a walk, double, triple, and three RBI at the plate in Tuesday’s win over Lincoln.

Lucas Brazier, White River — Senior first baseman/pitcher went 3-for-3 with a double, triple, two runs and three RBI in Wednesday’s win over Kent-Meridian. In Friday’s win over Bonney Lake, Brazier went 4-for-5 with a double and four RBI, adding a scoreless relief inning (0 H, 2 BB, 1 K).

Pete Browand, Peninsula baseball — On the week, went 7-for-12 with two home runs, five RBI and four runs scored in wins over Silas and Curtis.

Neal Burtis, Tahoma — Senior left-hander threw six shutout innings in Tuesday’s win over Stadium, allowing one hit and two walks with 14 strikeouts. Oregon State commit added a single and a walk at the plate (1-for-2, BB).

Jake Cuda, Gig Harbor — Senior right-hander threw six scoreless innings in Wednesday’s 5-0 win over Capital, allowing three hits and two walks with six strikeouts.

Ikaika Frank, Thomas Jefferson — Sophomore right-hander threw five strong innings (3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K) and went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and three RBI in Thursday’s win over Todd Beamer.

Nate Gilmore, Decatur — Senior right-hander threw four shutout innings (1 H, 0 BB, 7 K) in Thursday’s win over Federal Way after going 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in Wednesday’s win over the Eagles.

Isaac Hall, Kentwood — Senior right-hander no-hit Auburn across five innings with no walks and eight strikeouts (1 HBP) in Wednesday’s 10-0 win.

Ryder Herbrand, Eatonville — Sophomore threw a complete-game shutout (5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 5 BB, 7 K) and went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI at the plate in Monday’s win over Clover Park. Herbrand added four runs and a two-run double in Tuesday’s win over Washington, then went 3-for-5 with four RBI in Wednesday’s win over the Patriots.

Cooper Hordyk, Curtis — Junior RF/P went 4-for-4 with two doubles, three runs, and two RBI in Monday’s 9-4 win over Timberline. In Tuesday’s win over Bethel, the right-hander threw a complete game (7 IP) with nine strikeouts, allowing four hits and two runs (none earned) without a walk.

Gregory Johnson, Puyallup — Sophomore first baseman homered and went 2-for-3 with a walk and four RBI in Friday’s 10-2 win over Gig Harbor.

Jacob Kerwood, Mount Tahoma — Senior right-hander struck out 12 across five strong innings (5 IP, 3 R, 0 ER) and went 2-for-3 with two RBI at the plate in Friday’s win over Washington.

Bono Larkin, River Ridge — Senior designated hitter doubled and tripled in Tuesday’s win over Mount Tahoma, going 3-for-4 with a walk, four runs and three RBI. On the week, went 9-for-12 with four doubles, a triple, six RBI, eight runs scored and a stolen base.

Matthew Ledbetter, Kentlake — Senior right-hander tossed a complete-game one-hitter in Thursday’s 1-0 win over Auburn Mountainview, tallying nine strikeouts without a walk across seven innings.

Eli Lystra, Silas — Sophomore first baseman homered and went 3-for-3 with two RBI in Tuesday’s 5-4 win over Timberline. Lystra added a three-run homer (1-for-2) in Saturday’s win over Olympic.

Christopher Moore, Kentlake — Senior right-hander threw six strong innings (2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K) and went 3-for-3 with a home run, two walks, and six RBI at the plate in Wednesday’s win over Auburn Mountainview.

Luke Overbay, Tumwater — Junior right fielder homered in Tuesday’s win over Centralia, going 2-for-2 with a walk, three runs and four RBI.

Hunter Payne, Gig Harbor — The leadoff shortstop’s seventh-inning, walk-off single lifted the Tides over rival Peninsula, 1-0, on Tuesday.

Dylan Reano, Decatur — Senior 3B/P went 4-for-5 with two RBI and threw a pair of scoreless relief innings (0 H, 0 BB, 5 K) in Monday’s win over Auburn Mountainview.

Willie Ross, Lincoln — Junior right-hander threw 6.2 no-hit innings (2 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 12 K) in Wednesday’s 6-2 win over Lakes, part of a combined no-hitter with Emmett Oride-Grove. Ross added a walk, two hits, and two runs at the plate.

Ethan Shaefer, North Thurston — In Wednesday’s win over Mount Tahoma, the senior CF/P went 5-for-5 with four runs and three RBI. In Saturday’s win over Ingraham, Shaefer threw a complete-game shutout (7 IP, 5 H, 0 R) with no walks and a season-high 14 strikeouts. Also picked up a save against Bellarmine with three strikeouts in an inning pitched.

Jacob Shaw, Clover Park — Sophomore CF/P went 2-for-5 with a triple and two RBI, adding a pair of scoreless relief innings (0 H, 0 BB, 3 K) in Tuesday’s win over Foss. Shaw added five strong innings in Wednesday’s win over the Falcons (3 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 10) and went 1-for-4 with a walk, sacrifice fly, and four RBI at the plate.

Grayson Turnbow, Tahoma — Junior center fielder homered in Wednesday’s 9-3 win over Stadium, going 3-for-3 with a walk, two runs and three RBI.

Jimmy Womach, Tumwater — In three wins last week, the T-Birds catcher went a combined 6-for-12 with two doubles, a triple, home run, and seven RBI.
