Vote now for The News Tribune’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week for contests played between April 27-May 2. Voting will remain open until noon Thursday.

The poll is located below. You can read about all of the candidates and their accomplishments below.

Nominations must be submitted by 5 p.m. Sunday.

JoMierre Askew-Poirier, Lincoln boys — Senior won the 200-meter dash (21.35 seconds) at Saturday’s South Sound Classic in Puyallup, marking a new personal best.

Jackson Dirks, Cascade Christian boys — Senior won the discus throw (176-9) with a new personal best at Saturday’s South Sound Classic in Puyallup.

Giovanni Eddinger, Orting boys — Senior won the shot put (52-9.5) with a new personal best at Saturday’s South Sound Classic in Puyallup.

Savannah Ferencz, Sumner girls — Junior won the long jump (18-10.5) with a new personal best at Saturday’s South Sound Classic in Puyallup.

Izear Ferguson, Sumner boys — Senior ran a personal best in the 100-meter dash (10.55 seconds) in Wednesday’s meet at South Kitsap, good for the third-fastest time in the state this spring. On Saturday, Ferguson’s 10.75 won the event at the South Sound Classic in Puyallup.

Amin Fidaar, Rogers boys — Senior won the 800-meter run (1:54.93) and set a new meet record in the 1600-meter run (4:09.38) at Saturday’s South Sound Classic in Puyallup.

Elijah Harvey, Rogers boys — Senior broke his own meet record in the 110-meter hurdles (14.13 seconds) at Saturday’s South Sound Classic in Puyallup.

Hannah Huff, Tahoma girls — Senior won the shot put (41-0) at Saturday’s South Sound Classic in Puyallup.

Aiden Le, Kentwood boys — Senior won the pole vault (15-0) at Saturday’s South Sound Classic in Puyallup.

Tygee Roy, Federal Way boys — Ran a 48.34 seconds in the 400-meter and 22.26 in the 200-meters at the South Sound Classic. Currently No. 3 in the state as a freshman in the 400.

Frankie Skipper, Curtis girls — Senior set a new meet record in the 100-meter hurdles (14.21) at Saturday’s South Sound Classic in Puyallup.

Jazzlyn-Rei Smith, Curtis girls — Junior set a new meet record and personal best in the 300-meter hurdles (42.07) at Saturday’s South Sound Classic in Puyallup.

McCaelah Spencer, Mount Tahoma girls — Ran 12.11 seconds in the 100-meter, breaking the school record and currently the No. 2 mark in Class 3A. Also the anchor of the 4x100 meter relay that broke the Shoreline Invite Record at 48.29 seconds.

Jay Sumich, Yelm boys — Senior won the long jump (21-10.5) with a new personal best at Saturday’s South Sound Classic in Puyallup.

Latham West, Bonney Lake girls — Senior broke her own meet record in the 3200-meter run (10:30.21) at Saturday’s South Sound Classic in Puyallup.
