Prep boys tennis roundup: Charlie Wong helps Beamer edge Puyallup, 3-2

Charlie Wong and Tae San Nguyen each won in straight sets to lift the Todd Beamer High School boy stennis team to a 3-2 victory over visiting Puyallup on Wednesday.

Won won the No. 1 singles match, 6-3, 6-2, over Connor Williams and Nguyen won 6-3, 7-5 over Brendan Young.

Despite Puyallup taking two of the three doubles matches, the combination of Hoefel and Lee for Todd Beamer was able to win in a match that took to extra sets 7-5, 7-6 (4) to seal the victory for the Titans.

Bellarmine 4, Curtis 1: Jonathan Carlson took the top singles match for the Vikings, but it wasn’t enough in the loss to the Lions.

Bellarmine was able to take each of the next four matches, including Jonathan Dudley’s 6-0, 6-1 victory against Curtis’ Nathan Hyun.

Fife 4, White River 1: The Trojans dominated, winning four of the five matches in straight sets.

Kyle Roscoe got the scoring started with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the No. 2 single match. The bright spot for White River was Hayden Grimm, as he was able to defeat Cheyenne Rocamora, 6-0, 6-2, in the top singles match.

Washington 5, Steilacoom 0: The Patriots easily handled the Sentinels, winning all the matches in both singles and doubles in the 2A SPSL match.

Led by Khoa Nguyen and Jerrick Roces, who took each of the top two singles matches, the Patriots cruised from there.
