Prep roundup: Peninsula edges Auburn Mountainview in boys tennis

The Peninsula High School boys tennis team took to the last match to edge out Auburn Mountainview in a 3-2 home victory on Tuesday.

Peninsula’s Fracesc Gallard earned a 6-3, 6-0 victory in No. 1 singles against Garrett Neiss. Taking the final match of the day for the Seahawks was the team of Justin Pacin and Tommy Burdyshaw, cruising in two sets, 6-2, 6-1.

▪  Auburn Riverside 3, Sumner 2: Brady Lee and Keegan Stanphill were able to put it away for the Ravens in the No. 2 doubles match, winning 6-4, 6-4, as they defeated the Spartans on the road.

▪  Puyallup 4, Spanaway Lake 1: Paul Wasson won the No. 1 singles match, 6-1, 7-5, for the Sentinels on a day the Vikings were just too much on the court.

Puyallup’s Connor Williams them came back to win the second singles match, 6-0, 6-0, before the Vikings swept the doubles matches, losing only three games total in doubles.

▪  Olympia 4, North Thurston 1: The Bears had a cohesive team victory on the road against the Rams, led by No. 2 singles winner Ryan Adams.

BOYS WATER POLO

The combination of Daniel Godfrey, Ethan Cellver and AJ Pritchard proved successful for the Auburn Riverside High School boys water polo team as they defeated Enumclaw High School 15-10 on Tuesday.

Godfrey had five goals, Cellver with four and Pritchard chipped in three more for the Ravens.

The Hornets kept it close with five goals from Nathan March and three from Evan O'Neill.

▪  Curtis 19, Puyallup 3: Curtis’ strong performance came from the shared goal scoring of David Ling with seven, Sam Abbott with six and Garrett Friedman with two.
