Prep girls soccer: Morgan Weaver, Curtis rally back for 2-1 win over Emerald Ridge

Two first-half goals were key for the Curtis High School girls soccer team as they defeated host Emerald Ridge 2-1 on Tuesday.

Emerald Ridge struck first, with Karlee Stueckle striking it into the next off an assist from Mareonna Henderson in the ninth minute, but the Vikings responded three minutes later when Washington State University commit Morgan Weaver scored off an assist from Taylor Currin.

Curtis Maddie Lockwood then scored on a penalty kick in the 17th minute to put the Vikings ahead for good as defense secured the 4A SPSL South win.

Graham-Kapowsin 4, Rogers 0: Shea McKnight scored two goals, including the first of the match in the 47th minute, as the Eagles took off in the second half for the 4A SPSL South victory.

Mackenzie Rivera added Graham-Kapowsin’s second goal in the 57th minute, Leyre Moller scored in the 67th and McKnight added the finishing touches with her second goal in the 74th.

Eagles goalkeeper Makayla Blackburn earned the shutout and had 12 saves.

▪  Puyallup 5, Spanaway Lake 0: Saige Lyons, an Eastern Washington University commit, scored a goal and assisted on another — just as teammate Emily Estrada did — as the Vikings cruised to the 4A SPSL South victory.

Estrada assisted on the first goal of the match, finding Abby Cummings in the 27th minute. Then scored on of her own with Emily Coyle set her up in the 35th minute.

▪  Bellarmine Prep 8, Timberline 0: Emily Walsh had a hat trick — scoring the opening goal of the match, again in the 55th minute and her third in the 64th — as the Lions cruised to the 4A Narrows victory.

Bellarmine Prep scored six of its eight goals in the second half and goalkeepers Isabelle Davis and Emma Leith shared the shutout.

▪  Auburn Riverside 2, Lakes 1: Izzy Creighton and Cierra Enlow each scored goals for the the Ravens over the Lancers.

▪  Enumclaw 3, Auburn 0: Taylor Tandecki scored a goal and assisted on another as the Hornets cruised to the 3A SPSL victory.

Tandecki broke the scoreless tie in the 40th minute off a pass from Sydney Gwerder. Mia Fornelius added the second goal o fhte match 28 minutes later before Tandecki paid Gwerder back with an assist to her in the 74th minute.

Bonney Lake 4, Peninsula 1: Kelsey Lund had a hat trick, scoring goals in the fourth, 56th and 59th minutes in the Panthers’ 3A SPSL victory over the visiting Seahawks.

Jasmine Smith assisted on Lund’s first goal, then scored a goal of her own in the 10th minute.

Jolene Kvinsland scored the lone goal for Peninsula in the 10th minute.

▪  Capital 3, Wilson 1: The Cougars were able to hold off the Rams as Madison Midstokke, Sydney Wilson and Chloe Lamenzo all compiled goals in the victory.

Savannah Baker scored Wilson’s lone goal, her second of the season.

North Thurston 8, Lincoln 0: Savannah Hakes scored three goals and assisted on another as the Rams cruised to the 3A Narrows League victory.

North Thurston goalkeepers Alison Wood and Anna Messenger shared the shutout.

▪  White River 2, River Ridge 0: The Hornets were held scoreless until the 75th minute when Mack Breeden scored off the Chloe Narolski assist.

Breeden then had an assist of her own, finding Grace Clapshaw for her goal in the 79th minute. White River’s Ally Glege earned the shutout.

▪  Steilacoom 6, Orting 1: Alyssa Colbert’s hat trick helped the Sentinels cruise past the Cardinals.

Lexi Orosco, Tori Crawford and Johnna Raby added the other three goals for Steilacoom.

▪  Charles Wright 2, Cross Point Academy 0: Gabi Joubert broke a scoreless tie in the 60th minute and Kristina Spaur added an insurance goal 10 minutes later to lif the Tarriers.

Charles Wright’s Nikki Baldwin earned the shutout.
