Prep soccer: Gig Harbor cruises past Timberline; Late own goal lifts Puyallup past Emerald Ridge

Kaysie Bruce and Joey Watermeyer scored two goals each as the Gig Harbor High School girls soccer team defeated Timberline, 6-1, on Thursday for the Tides’ fifth consecutive victory.

"Bruce and Watermeyer had solid games," said Gig Harbor co-coach Todd Northstrom. "Bruce scores from the middle and does a really good job with opportunities. Watermeyer is starting to come to her own with runs and scoring on goal."

Watermeyer has scored six goals in the past four matches.

Timberline’s Leah Magee scored in the 35th minute to cut the lead to 5-1 before Watermeyer added an insurance goal in the 23rd minute.

Bellarmine Prep 2, Olympia 0: Janae Leach and Sydney DeVita scored goals as the Lions cruised to the shutout victory over the Bears.

Bellarmine Prep goalkeeper Isabelle Davis earned the shutout.

Puyallup 2, Emerald Ridge 1: The Vikings won the match on a Jaguar own goal in the 79th minute to just barely escape with the road win.

Emily Estrada scored the first goal for Puyallup (4-1-2; 3-0-0 4A SPSL South) before Emerald Ridge (3-4-1; 2-2-0) tied it in the 64th minute on Karlee Stueckle’s free kick.

Curtis 4, Rogers 2: Morgan Weaver’s hat trick lead the Vikings to the road victory.

After Maddy Perry scored in the 14th minute, Weaver, a Washington State University commit, proceeded to score goals in the 30th, 40th and 60th minutes for Curtis (6-1-0; 4-0-0 4A SPSL South).

Bailey Thompkins and Brennah Lianos scored Rogers’ goals.

Bonney Lake 1, Lakes 0: Hannah Shrott’s goal in the 59th minute was all that separated the Panthers from the Lancers.

Wilson 3, Shelton 0:  Maddie Lecce scored in the 13th and 19th minutes, and Tasia Glover scored in the 47th to help lift the Rams over the Highclimbers. 

Wilson goalkeeper Lena Flanagan had the shutout.

Sumner 3, Auburn Riverside 1: The Spartans rallied from an early one-goal deficit to beat the Ravens.

Sumner’s Ali Wehmer scored in the 15th minute to tie the match after Auburn Riverside’s Talia Samuelson scored in the fourth minute. Jaylin Borden and Brooke Nichols added the Spartans’ other two goals.

Auburn Mountainview 2, Enumclaw 0: Leanna Harris and Lilly Navine scored goals and Holly Hytrek earned the shutout as the Lions cruised to the 3A SPSL victory over the visiting Hornets.

Franklin Pierce 5, Washington 0: Vanessa Shelton scored a goal and had two assists to lead the Cardinals over the Patriots in 2A SPSL play.

Lorna Shelton scored two goals.

White River 9, Clover Park 0: Alex Hatley scored three goals and assisted on another as the Hornets cruised to the victory over the Warriors.
