Prep golf: Joshua Lackey medalist, again, but Rogers falls to Emerald Ridge for 2nd time

A duel at High Cedars Golf Course was in full swing when Emerald Ridge High School visited Rogers High School on Tuesday.

The Jaguars won 68-66, but were barely able to edge out medalist Joshua Lackey and the Rams, as Lackey shot a two-over-par 38.

Despite the loss, Lackey earned his second medalist title, the first also coming against Emerald Ridge on Sept. 10.

Coincidentally, the Sept. 10 match between ER and Rogers where Lackey won his first medalist title was also a two point win for ER, 51-49.

Lakes 49, Auburn Riverside 41: The Lancers were able to take the home victory behind a Jackson Murrell two-over-par 38 at Oakbrook Golf Course.

Jefferson 67, Federal Way 51: Sean Yi led the Raiders with a one-over-par 37 at Riverbend Golf Course to help top the Eagles.

Puyallup 54, Graham-Kapowsin 37: It was a rare tri-medalist finish as the Vikings' Brooks Balmer and Blake Korum, and the Eagles' Will Klockenbrink all shot a seven-over-par 43 at High Cedars Golf Course.

Enumclaw 87, Bonney Lake 68: Curtis Koltermann earned his seventh medalist distinction of the year for the Panthers with a one-under-par 35 at High Cedars Golf Course. It just wasn’t enough to upend Enumclaw.

GIRLS GOLF

Emma Johnson shot three-over-par 39 to lift the Bethel High School girls golf team to a 53-29 victory over Spanaway Lake on Tuesday at Lake Spanaway Golf Course.

It was Johnson’s second consecutive medalist performance for the Braves (2-4).

Emerald Ridge: 58, Rogers: 39: Freshman Taylor Kooch took home the medalist honors after a win against the Jaguars’ rival Rogers.

Kooch shot a 43, which is seven over par at Lipoma Firs.

Graham-Kapowsin 55, Puyallup 35: Jordan Kim shot a 14-over-par 50 for the Vikings, but it wasn’t enough in a loss to the Eagles.

Enumclaw: 62, Bonney Lake: 45: Junior Lexi DeChon of Enumclaw shot a six-over-par 42 for medalist honors at Enumclaw Golf Course as the Hornets (4-4 3A SPSL) defeat Bonney Lake (2-6 3A SPSL).

Fife: 16, Orting: 9: The Trojans pulled off the win with help of two medalists juniors Brayden Boyes and Ashley Jones, who both shot 23-over-par 60 at Northshore Golf Course.

Boyles earned a medalist placing for the second time in a row.
