Prep soccer: Savannah Hakes’ game-winner lifts North Thurston to 1-0 win over Wilson

A late goal from Savannah Hakes was all that was needed to put the North Thurston High School girls soccer team over Wilson and seal the 1-0 victory on Thursday.

Hakes scored the game-winner in the 74th minute to lift North Thurston (5-3-0; 4-2-0 3A Narrows League) to sole possession of the third spot in the league standings behind Central Kitsap and Capital.

Wilson (4-3-1; 3-3-0) had won three consecutive matches before North Thurston goalkeeper Anna Messenger held it scoreless on Thursday.

Lincoln 0, Foss 0: Falcons goalkeeper Angela Romo and Abes goalkeeper Allie Brooks held this match scoreless.

It was the first time Lincoln (0-7-1; 0-5-1 3A Narrows) has held an opponent without a goal this season. This was the second scoreless tie for Foss (0-6-2; 0-5-1) this season.

Mount Tahoma 3, Shelton 2: The Thunderbirds' Naloni Haskins scored twice in the 35th and 63rd minutes and Tyra Thibodeaux scored in the 70th minute to put away the Highclimbers.

Puyallup 5, Graham-Kapowsin 0: Jordyn Bartelson scored two goals as the Vikings cruised to the win.

Saige Lyons added a goal and an assist and Puyallup goalkeepers Brooke Johnston and Rian Kasner earned the shut out as Puyallup (5-2-2; 4-1-0 4A SPSL South) bounced back after suffering its first league loss against Curtis on Tuesday.

Curtis 4, Bellarmine Prep 1: Four different players got on the scoreboard for the Vikings as they cruised to the nonleague win over the Lions.

Morgan Weaver scored her 23rd goal of the season, flanked by goals from Brooke Webber, Aryana Maricle and Sariah Keister.

Rogers 3, Bethel 1: Haleigh Thompson’s two goals helped lift the Rams over the Braves.

Alex Miles scored Rogers’ first goal in the 22nd minute before Thompson’s goals in the 28th and 52nd minutes. Miya Thomas scored Bethel’s lone goal in the 58th.

Emerald Ridge 5, Spanaway Lake 0: Five players scored goals for the Jaguars, including first-half goals from Katie Matthews, Karlee Stueckle and Patum Marshall in the shutout win.

Gig Harbor 3, South Kitsap 0: Kaysie Bruce had a goal and two assists to lead the Tides (7-2-1; 6-0-0 4A Narrows) to their seventh consecutive victory despite not having co-coach Stephanie Cox, who was playing in the National Women’s Soccer League championship for the Seattle Reign FC.

Leahi Manthei scored the first goal of the match on Bruce’s assist and Bruce then found Elly Aronson two minutes later for a 2-0 Gig Harbor lead. She scored on an assist from Joey Watermeyer in the 68th minute.

Cox’s Reign lost to FC Kansas City, 1-0, on Thursday.

Tahoma 5, Decatur 1: Zoe Milburn scored three goals and Mia Corbin had a goal and two assists as the Bears rolled to the win over the Gators.

Corbin scored the opening goal of the match in the 29th minute. Corbin set Milburn up with two second-half goals and Grace Wooten had a goal in the 35th minute.

Auburn Riverside 2, Auburn Mountainview 1 (5-4 shootout): This match was scoreless until the 74th minute.

That’s when Emille Greeve briefly gave the Lions a lead. But the Ravens' Victoria Kendall answered back in the 79th minute tying the game in regulation. 

It took penalty kicks to decide the match, and the Ravens were able to escape on a 5-4 shootout for the victory.

Enumclaw 2, Lakes 0: Amber Dunlap scored a goal and assisted on the other as the Hornets shut out the Lancers.

White River 2, Franklin Pierce 1:  Mack Breeden's 12th-minute goal was enough for the Hornets to put the match in cruise control, but received some insurance with a Zoe Grimm 66th minute goal.

Kaitlyn Tisch scored for Franklin Pierce in the 76th minute, but the Cardinals were stopped there.
