One goal is all the difference in the world, especially when it lifts your team to victory.
This is something that Talia Samuelson knows all too well. It was her goal in the 78th minute that put her visiting Auburn Riverside High School girls soccer team over Lakes, 1-0, on Thursday.
"It was a tough game," said Ravens head coach Paul Lewis. "Lakes played very motivated even though they were missing their starting keeper."
Samuelson was assisted by Hannah Schatz as she chipped the ball past the Lancer defense and into the net in .
"She confidently slotted the ball home and I could finally breath," Lewis said.
The Ravens (8-2-0; 7-1-0 3A SPSL) saw two keepers, Katelyn Brown and Natalie Raum, earn the shutout.
Peninsula 2, Bonney Lake 1: Jolene Kvinsland won the match for the Seahawks as she netted a penalty kick in the 78th minute.
Capital 2, Wilson 1: The Cougars' gains were the Rams' woes as a penalty kick in the 80th minute by Madison Midstokke won the match.
Curtis 3, Emerald Ridge 1: It was the Sariah Keister show on the turf for the Vikings as she netted two goals to help topple the Jaguars.
Morgan Weaver also scored a goal for 4A SPSL South-leading Curtis (10-1-0; 7-0-0).
Puyallup 3, Spanaway Lake 0: Saige Lyons had two goals and an assist in the Vikings’ road victory over the Sentinels.
Puyallup (7-2-2; 6-1-0 4A SPSL South) maintained its No. 2 spot in the 4A SPSL South standings behind Curtis.
White River 3, River Ridge 0: The Hornets (10-0-0; 8-0-0 2A SPSL) were backed by a two goal performance from Mack Breeden and stellar goal keeping from Ally Glebe to defeat the Hawks.
