High school volleyball roundup 11/7

It was a battle won by the Curtis High School girls volleyball tournament as they defeated Bellarmine Prep in the Class 4A West Central Tournament, 23-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-15.

Elly McEachern led the Vikings with 21 kills, 16 digs and three aces. Kasey Woodruff also had 27 digs and an assist on the night. Haley Morton had an 40 assists and 13 digs on the night.

Megan Jacobsen’s 17 kills led the Lions, while Hannah Pukis dished out 34 assists.

Curtis 3, Graham- Kapowsin 1: Camryn Buell had 15 kills, 25 digs, one assist and one ace as the Vikings won, 25-18, 22-25, 25-21, 25-21. Kylie Cox added 27 digs and two aces.

Bellarmine Prep 3, Emerald Ridge 0: Claire McCarthy had 15 digs and four aces, Addy Woolery also had 15 digs and the Lions earned a 25-16, 25-23, 25-18 victory.

Emerald Ridge 3, Graham-Kapowsin 0: Jadyn Mullen had 34 assists, 12 digs and four aces while Kava Durr had 10 kills and two blocks for the Jaguars as they swept their SPSL foe 27-25, 25-11, 25-17.

Puyallup 3, Olympia 2: The Vikings earned a state berth after defeating the Bears in five close sets, 22-25, 27-25, 23-25, 25-20, 15-12. This was the third consecutive five-set match for Olympia. Lauren Wilson had 26 kills and 11 digs, and Julia Fleener had 52 assists, 22 digs and two aces for the Bears.

Olympia 3, Kent-Meridian 2: Molly Armstrong had 27 digs and the Bears won in five sets 19-25, 25-23, 25-27, 26-24, 17-15.

Tahoma 3, Timberline 1: The Bears earned a state berth with a 25-14, 22-25, 25-21, 25-11 victory. Cydnee Miller had 50 assists and 17 digs, Sierra Stultz had 20 kills and nine digs for Tahoma.

Tahoma 3, Todd Beamer 1: Emily Smith had 12 kills as the Bears defeated the Titans 26-24, 25-23, 20-25, 25-18.

Timberline 3, Gig Harbor 0: Juliana Salanoa had 11 kills, six blocks and 10 digs as the Blazers cruise past the Tides 25-21, 25-16, 25-22. Natalie Stark also had 24 assists and one ace during the match.

Tumwater 3, Ridgefield 1: Kennedy Croft had 28 kills and Jaeya Reed had 15 kills, 18 digs and threee aces as the T-Birds defeated Ridgefield to win the 2A district championship 25-19, 25-18, 23-25, 25-17.

Maddy Pilon had 59 assists during the match, breaking the previous school record set in 2012 by Courtney Bowen (55). Head coach Tana Otton said, “Our expectations are always high, the girls did a great job, our serving was exactly where it needed to be for this time of year.”

Tumwater 3, Woodland 0: Brooke Hare had five aces as the T-Birds defeated Woodland in the semifinals 25-22, 25-12, 25-15.

Cascade Christian 3, Charles Wright Academy 0: Hannah Carlisle had 35 assists and seven digs as the Cougars sweep the Tarriers 25-21, 25-19, 26-24.

Cascade Christian 3, Klahowya 0: Dani Tang had six aces, eight kills and seven digs as the Cougars completed their second sweep of their night, 25-11, 25-9, 25-16.
