Prep basketball roundup: Black Hills boys knock off North Thurston, 63-60

Black Hills traveled to North Thurston High School and defeated the Rams 63-60 in an out-of-league boys basketball matchup.

The Wolves were led by TJ Mickelson, who had 21 points on the night.

Eatonville 65, Forks 62: The Crusaders did just enough to hold off the Spartans.

With a one-point lead heading into the fourth, the Crusaders outscored Forks 19-17 to seal a three-point victory over their out-of-league opponent.

Clover Park 86, North Kitsap 82: Davian Harris-Williams had a Warrior-high 21 points and led his team to a four-point victory over the Vikings.

Semaj Booker scored 20 and Dakari Jefferson scored 17 for the Warriors (4-2, 2-2 SPSL).

Mount Rainier Lutheran 61, Puget Sound Adventist 52: The Hawks outshot the 613s 21-12 during the third quarter, which proved to be the difference in the game.

Puget Sound Adventist outscored the Hawks 15-13 in the fourth but it wasn’t enough tp get the win.

Kent-Meridian 71, Rogers 50: 5-foot-8 senior point guard Romaine Jackson (2-6, 1-3 SPSL) led the Royals (3-3, 2-1 SPSL) with 27 points.

Capital 48, Steilacoom 36: The Cougars (3-6, 0-4 Narrows) placed all their hopes on freshman 6-foot-1 guard Chris Penner, who scored 27 Monday night against the Sentinels (5-4, 3-1 SPSL).

Penner is averaging 14 points a game this season.

Shelton 61, North Mason 46: The Highclimbers (5-3, 2-2 Narrows) were led by junior guard Kyle Kimball, who scored 21 points.

Shelton closed out the game in the second half, outscoring the Bulldogs (4-5, 0-2 Olympic) 35-21.

Bellarmine Prep 65, Troy (Calif.) 42: The Lions are playing in the Mission Prep Christmas Classic in San Luis Obispo, California until Dec. 23rd.

Malachi Flynn led the Lions in points scored with 33 as they defeated Troy by 23.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

The Meridian Trojans of Bellingham gave Franklin Pierce a scare on Monday as they outscored Cardinals on their home court 16-6 in the fourth quarter. The Trojans could not edge past the Cardinals and lost the matchup, 60-58

It was a fast-paced, back-and-forth game in which Meridian nailed three 3-pointers and had a chance to win during the final seconds due to a missed Cardinal free throw, but the Trojans offense could not convert.

Alexius Foster was the leading Cardinal scorer with 22 points and nine rebounds.

Mount Rainier 39, Tacoma Baptist 36: The Crusaders lost a close game to the Rams after being outscored 16-9 during the second quarter of play.

North Thurston 47, Yelm 36: Brooklyn Harn led the Rams with 16 points as they outscored the Tornados 14-5 during the decisive fourth quarter.

Mount Rainier Lutheran 57, Puget Sound Adventist 16: The Hawks only allowed the 613s to score a single point during the third quarter and cruised throughout this one-sided contest.

Stadium 60, Foss 22: Vanessa Higgins (18 points) and Mariah Senato (16) were the top scorers for the Tigers in the 38-point rout.
