Lincoln’s Brown-to-Brown alley oop, David Jenkins Jr.’s 50 points for Wilson lead TNT highlights of the week
TAKING FLIGHT
Federal Way’s Jalen McDaniels earlier last week was selected as the 4A SPSL Northwest most valuable player. He showed why in a win over-second ranked Curtis for the SPSL title on Thursday at the ShoWare Center.
Among the 6-foot-10 forward’s 18 points was a double-clutch alley-oop dunk in the third quarter off a pass from teammate D’Jimon Jones. It was the second dunk of the game for McDaniels, who has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at San Diego State next year.
KNOX TIES IT
Kiki Knox is normally Wilson’s post. But she caught a pass off a missed free throw, took it coast to coast and finished at the other end through a foul in the final seconds to tie the game against Lincoln with the 3A Narrows League title on the line.
She could have tied it with a free throw, but it hunt on the rim and just rolled out and the game went to overtime, where Lincoln pulled away.
BROWN TO BROWN
Tashon Brown gave his older brother a senior-night pass.
The Lincoln junior guard drove middle, lobbed it toward the left baseline and let his senior brother do the rest. Trevion Brown ran from the left corner and caught it in the air behind his head before slamming it through the basket against Mt. Tahoma.
JENKINS DROPS 50 ... AGAIN
David Jenkins Jr. surpassed 1,600 points for his career at Wilson.
And he scored at least 50 points for the second time this season in a 90-88 win over Capital on Friday, including the game-sealing three-point play.
He made 16 of 25 shots (66 percent), including 6 of 11 3-pointers.
Jenkins scored 51 points in a 100-95 overtime win in the championship game of the Tamanawis Holiday Invitational on Dec. 30 in Canada.
Here’s every shot he hit (not including his 12-of-15 effort on free throws).
