Beamer, Lincoln, Wilson well-represented on girls all-state basketball rosters
The best of Todd Beamer High School play the best of Tacoma this weekend.
Nia Alexander, Bria Rice and Makenna Woodfolk will represent the Titans one more time, playing alongside some of the top seniors from around the 4A classification against a 3A team that includes Lincoln’s Tamia Braggs and Wilson’s Kiki Knox.
That game will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at King’s High School in Seattle. Rosters were assembled by the Washington State Girls Basketball Coaches Association and only seniors were eligible.
Here’s Saturday’s full schedule:
▪ 2 p.m.: 1B vs. 2B
▪ 4 p.m.: 1A vs. 2A
▪ 6 p.m.: 3A vs. 4A
Alexander, a University of San Francisco signee, earned The News Tribune’s All-Area player of the year before her team reached the 4A state semifinals for the second consecutive year. The Titans lost to unbeaten state champion Gonzaga Prep last season and unbeaten state champ Central Valley this year.
Braggs and Knox are on the 3A team after both were selected to The News Tribune’s first-team All-Area. They’ll team up Saturday with TNT state player of the year and Oregon State commit Mikayla Pivec of Lynnwood.
The 3A team also includes three players from state champion Bellevue — Anna Wilson (the younger sister of Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson), Shelby Cansler and Quinessa Cayloa-Do (who transferred there from Beamer before the start of the school year).
Charles Wright’s Shoni Pritchett, also an All-Area selection, will play for the 1A team. White River’s Darian Gore is on the 2A team.
The coaches association will announce its state players of the year for each classification at halftime of each game. It will present its Ms. Basketball as well as its state coach of the year at halftime of the 3A vs. 4A game.
Admission is $10 for adults and $6 for students and senior citizens.
