Prep track and field: Lincoln boys hold slight lead over Bonney Lake after first day of 3A district championships

CLASS 3A
Boys: The Lincoln High School boys track and field team had four event winners at the 3A district track meet, which gave the Abes the lead after day one with 58 points on Friday at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner.
Hot on their tail headed into day two is Bonney Lake with 53 points, with Central Kitsap rounding out third with 34.
Xzavier Weston rolled in the 100 with an impressive 10.99. His teammates Walker Flynn and James Mwaura also won their respective events, the 800 and 1600.
Shelton’s Colton Paller had a nice day, winning the discus with a throw of 169-04. Central Kitsap’s Mason Salley also tallied another Narrows win with a 169-00 javelin toss.
Girls: Enumclaw ran ended day one with a huge points lead, finishing with 103. The next closest team was Mt. Tahoma clocking in with 64 points.
Enumclaw’s sole win came in the 4x2 relay. They won that competition with a time of 1:44.61.
Other area wins included Jordan Thompson winning the 400 with a 56.81 time for Shelton, and Samantha Boudreau taking the shot put for Bonney Lake with 41-11.
CLASS 2A
Boys: Josh Braverman stole the show, taking first in three preliminary events for River Ridge and helping the Hawks to a 24.5-23 advantage over Franklin Pierce after the first day of the 2A district meet.
Braverman took the 200 with a 22.58, the 100 hurdles with a 14.34 and 300 hurdles with a 39.26. The efforts from Emmanuel Thornton pulled Franklin Pierce within reach of River Ridge. Thornton won the high jump with a leap of 6 feet 10, and the long jump with a leap of 21-10.
White River’s Alejandro Snead took first in the 400 with a time of 50.54.
Girls: After one day of competition, Fife leads the pack with 30 points. Right behind them is North Kitsap with 23. Franklin Pierce takes third with 13.
