Mariners, partners to offer free COVID-19 drive-thru testing
The Seattle Mariners, in partnership with QFC, Fred Meyer and the City of Seattle, will open a free COVID-19 drive-thru testing site Wednesday at T-Mobile Park.
Testing will be offered from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday in the stadium’s parking garage, which is located at 1250 1st Ave. S. The site is expected to have the capacity for 250 vehicles per day.
Registration is required and can be completed online or by calling 1-888-852-2567.
“Adequate testing is vitally important to protect communities from the devastating impacts of the COVID-19 illness,” Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan said in a release. “With the limited resources as a city, we have advocated for prioritizing testing of our frontline workers and most vulnerable residents that have been hardest hit by the pandemic.
“I am grateful that this new partnership with QFC, Fred Meyer, and the Mariners will allow us to expand testing even further, a critical first step to protect communities as we look towards safely and responsibly reopening our city.”
Those seeking tests will use a virtual screening tool based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines to determine eligibility.
If eligible, they will be able to select their testing location and set up an appointment. They will then receive pre-visit paperwork to complete.
“When a person arrives for their test, they should have their photo ID ready and should leave their window rolled up for check-in, until a health-care practitioner comes to the car to administer the test,” the release says.
“For the testing, patients remain in their cars throughout the process, which is completed in just a few minutes using self-administered test kits. The test uses self-administered nasal swabs, which are less painful and designed to increase safety.”
Results are expected within 48 hours.
