Big Dumper in Tacoma: Cal Raleigh to rehab with Triple-A Rainiers
Cal Raleigh is coming to Cheney Stadium.
The Mariners star catcher will join the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers on a major league rehab assignment beginning Tuesday, the club announced.
Raleigh will begin his rehab assignment with High-A Everett on Sunday before heading south on Interstate 5. He’ll play the rest of the week as Tacoma’s catcher, MLB.com’s Daniel Kramer reported.
Raleigh was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain on May 14. In 41 games this season, the 29-year-old is batting .161 (26-for-161) with seven home runs and 18 RBI.
“I’m feeling great,” Raleigh said at T-Mobile Park on May 31. “(I’m) trying to get rolling as fast as I can while being smart… and making sure that when I do come back, it’s not going to hinder me anymore.”
Tacoma hosts Albuquerque in the first of a six-game series at Cheney Stadium on Tuesday morning. First pitch is scheduled for 11:35 a.m. PDT.
Raleigh could return to the Mariners lineup during their next homestand at T-Mobile Park (June 16-21).
‘Big Dumper’ led the major leagues with 60 home runs in 2025, the most in a single season among catchers and switch-hitters in MLB history.
