No bye: Seahawks playing for home playoff game next week after Packers win at Detroit

The Seahawks now know what they are playing for. It isn’t a playoff bye.

That goes to the Packers. Aaron Rodgers rallied Green Bay from two touchdowns down in the second half at Detroit as the Packers beat the Lions 23-20 on the final play Sunday.

That means the Seahawks are either going to be the third seed in the conference playoffs, with a home game next week in the wild-card round against Minnesota, or the fifth seed on the road next week at the NFC East champion. That will be either Philadelphia or Dallas, depending on if the Eagles beat the Giants later Sunday.

If the Seahawks (11-4) beat San Francisco (12-3) tonight in the NFC West title game at CenturyLink Field, Seattle is the three.

A Seattle loss makes the Seahawks the fifth seed, a wild card, and the 49ers the first seed in the NFC with home-field advantage throughout the conference’s postseason.
