Seahawks starting offensive lineman out injured for game against Vikings
The Seahawks were down another injured starter for their latest game, this time on the previously solid offensive line.
Left guard Mike Iupati did not play Sunday night against the Minnesota Vikings at CenturyLink Field. He was questionable to, because of knee and back issues that limited the 33-year-old, 10-year veteran in practices this past week.
Jordan Simmons started at left guard for the first time this season. Jamarco Jones had been spelling Iupati for drives in the first four games this season, including Seattle’s previous game, its win at Miami. Simmons has also been backing up at guard, until Sunday night on the right side behind rookie Damien Lewis.
As already known, All-Pro safety Jamal Adams, backup safety and dime defensive back Lano Hill, rookie linebacker Jordyn Brooks were also out injured for Sunday night’s game.
Number-two running back Carlos Hyde was inactive for the second consecutive game. He’s had a shoulder injury.
The Seahawks have their bye this coming week. The hope is for Adams and Hyde in particular to use the extra rest to be ready for Seattle’s game Oct. 25 at NFC West-rival Arizona.
The Seahawks other player inactive for the game was reserve offensive lineman Kyle Fuller.
Jonathan Bullard, the defensive end Seattle signed off the Cardinals’ practice squad on Wednesday, was active for his Seattle debut Sunday night.
