Pro Bowl quarterback Geno Smith and the team reached agreement Monday afternoon on a 3-year contract to keep him tied to Seattle through 2025, a league source told The News Tribune. The deal could be worth up to $105 million. It will pay the 32-year-old Smith $52 million in bonuses and guarantees this year.
Smith goes from a seven-year backup who earned $3.5 million in base salary and $7 million total with bonuses last season to $52 million in 2023.
The league source told the TNT Tuesday’s league deadline to use the franchise tag in pending free agents spurred the Seahawks’ agreement with Smith.
