Geno Smith leaves Seahawks game at Rams injured by Aaron Donald, Drew Lock enters

The one thing the Seahawks didn’t need anytime — especially with a mammoth game again in four days — just happened.

Geno Smith left Seattle’s game at the Los Angeles Rams early in the fourth quarter with an elbow injury. The franchise quarterback who began the game 13 for 17 passing as Seattle took a 16-7 lead late into the game got crunched by Rams All-World defensive lineman Aaron Donald after throwing a pass.

Smith was on the ground face-down wincing, before a team doctor and trainers came out to the middle of the field to assist him.

They helped him to the sideline and then into the blue medical tent behind the Seahawks’ bench. An NFL concussion advisory on the sideline conspicuous by his red cap went into the tent to examine Smith.

Backup Drew Lock entered the game as Seattle’s quarterback.

A few minutes later, Smith and the concussion advisor left the tent. Smith got his right, throwing arm taped, and then iced.

The Seahawks then announced he was questionable to return with a right elbow injury.

Seattle hosts San Francisco in what is shaking up as a showdown for first place atop the NFC West on Thursday, Thanksgiving night.
