Meet the newest Seahawks: Second- and third-round picks

AP

The Seahawks make four selections in Friday’s second and third rounds.

Seahawks draft picks

JARRAN REED, defensive tackle

Pick: Second round (No. 49)

The skinny: The Alabama star looks like a replacement for long time for run-stopping nose-tackle Brandon Mebane. Considered by many a first-round talent, the Hawks traded up from 56 to get Reed.

C.J. PROSISE, running back

Pick: Third round (No. 90)

The skinny: Had a 6.6-yard rushing average last season for Notre Dame. He averaged 17.8 yards per reception, which indicates he could be a nice option as a third-down back playing the Fred Jackson role.

NICK VANNETT, tight end

Pick: Third round (No. 94)

The skinny: The Ohio State product is 6-foot-6, 260 pounds, and looks the part of an NFL tight end. He didn’t get many targets in the Buckeyes’ offense, catching 19 balls last season. But he probably learned a great deal about blocking from that position — something the Hawks have lacked.

REES ODHIAMBO, guard

Pick: Third round (No. 97)

The skinny: At 6-4, 315 pounds, the Boise State guard is a native of Kenya. He looks like a project, and has had concerns about his ability to stay healthy, missing multiple games in each of the past three seasons.
