‘Welcome to Wrexham' Season 5 Release Date, Episode Times, Where to Watch
Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds are heading back to chase championship glory in "Welcome to Wrexham" Season 5.
The sporting docu-series premiers on Hulu with two episodes on Thursday, May 14, 2026. They see the famous actors, both co-chairmen of the English soccer club Wrexham AFC, struggle to stave off relegation amidst growing pressure.
The sporting drama certainly isn’t stopping here. As announced by Disney in April 2026, "Welcome to Wrexham” has been renewed for a further three seasons ((seasons 6, 7, and 8)
That renewal comes mainly thanks to solid viewing figures and critical acclaim. However, back-to-back promotions for the club, from the National League to the Championship, can’t have hurt. Neither can its two angel investors massively raising the club’s profile across the world.
Wrexham AFC is the third-oldest professional football club in the world. In Feb. 2021, when Rob and Ryan teamed up to purchase them for £2M, they were languishing in the 5th tier. Now they’ve rocketed three tiers higher, in the second division (called the Championship).
That’s great for the club, and for the show. But more than its success, “Welcome to Wrexham” has heart. The second episode of season 5, titled "Joey Jones," is dedicated to the cult Wrexham hero who died in 2025 at the age of 70 after life-long services to the club.
The aim has always been to reach the top tier of English professional football, the Premier League. And with three more seasons to come, all eyes are on Wrexham AFC.
"Season five premieres May 14 and we’ve been renewed for three more," Reynolds told his 50 million followers on Instagram.
“Congrats to our Emmy-winning doc team, the town, and Wrexham AFC for always making things so dramatic and stressy. Good for TV, bad for blood pressure.”
The series launched in 2022 and has won ten Emmy Awards and two Critics’ Choice Television Awards.
As per the official FX description, "From Hollywood to Wales, from the pitch to the locker room, the front office to the pub, the docuseries will track Rob and Ryan's crash course in football club ownership and the inextricably connected fates of a team and a town counting on two actors to bring some serious hope and change to a community that could use it."

"Welcome to Wrexham" Season 5 launches on Thursday, May 14, in the United States on FX and Hulu at 9pm ET, and on Disney+ in the UK.
