Flamecraft's Steam Demo Is Live Now Ahead Of Steam Next Fest

Monstercouch's digital adaptation of Flamecraft - the beloved cozy worker-management tabletop game from Cardboard Alchemy - has its Steam demo live right now on Windows and Mac. The demo will also be featured in Steam Next Fest, which runs from June 15 through June 22, 2026, joining what's shaping up to be one of the more interesting Next Fest lineups in recent memory.

From Tabletop Hit to Steam

If the name sounds familiar, it should. Flamecraft launched as a tabletop game in 2022 from designer Manny Vega and Cardboard Alchemy, with art by Sandara Tang that became one of the defining visual identities of the cozy board game wave. Players take on the role of a Flamekeeper helping artisan dragons and local shopkeepers brighten up a small town, gathering resources, casting enchantments, and building their reputation across the community. The board game won fans for its warm, low-stakes design and its absolutely charming visual identity, and now Monstercouch is bringing all of that to PC with a faithful digital adaptation.

What's in the Flamecraft Demo

The demo offers a guided introduction to the game, featuring a fully narrated tutorial voiced by Becca Scott. Scott is a familiar face in tabletop gaming circles, known for her work hosting board game content across the industry. Having Scott handle the narration is a smart choice; it shows that Monstercouch understands the tabletop community this game is reaching out to. This is especially important since we've seen a lot of failed tabletop to video game adaptations in the past, and Flamecraft on Steam is definitely setting itself apart from those.

In the demo, players will be able to explore a selection of shops, meet part of the game's cast, and get a clear sense of how the strategy loop works.

The core experience is turn-based and built around clever decision-making, with little to no time pressure. Players can take turns in hotseat, and all of the bot players in the game take their turns simultaneously for minimal wait. You enhance shops by casting enchantments, helping them grow and attract more visitors. Balancing resources and choosing how to support each location becomes the heart of the experience. Along the way, you meet Dragon Artisans and the more unusual "Fancy Dragons" - both carried over from the tabletop original. The digital version supports between one and five players, although the current demo only supports local hotseat multiplayer.

The Next Fest Context

Steam Next Fest June 2026 is shaping up to be a notable showcase. Fantastic Humans' supernatural narrative adventure Love Is a Demon is also part of the lineup, with its demo arriving on June 15. Cozy strategy and supernatural narrative make for an interesting pairing under the same banner, and Next Fest's broader selection tends to surface the kind of games that thrive on word of mouth.

If you've been on the fence about whether tabletop adaptations can translate the warmth of physical play to digital, this is a good demo to test that question with. Art style that carries the same warmth and coziness of the original, enhanced with silly animations of these adorable dragons are surefire way to win over cozy players' hearts.

The Flamecraft demo is available now on Steam for Windows and Mac. Steam Next Fest runs from June 15 to June 22, 2026.
