Fresh Rolls opens in downtown Tacoma on Friday
Downtown Tacoma’s Fresh Rolls, a cafe specializing in Vietnamese food, will open at 10 a.m. Friday.
The restaurant at 823 Pacific Ave. is in the former home of a Herfy’s and India Mahal.
This is the second location for the restaurant, which opened its first restaurant in January 2014 in University Place.
The restaurant is a casual cafe focused on speedy service and healthy food. Fresh rolls — rice wrappers wound tightly around noodles, herbs, vegetables and a choice of meat — are the real focus here. The rolls, also called “spring rolls” or “salad rolls,” come in a variety of flavors: tofu and vegetable; salmon; beef, barbecue pork; shrimp and grilled chicken rolls. All are sold in pairs for $4.99
The menu also lists banh mi sandwiches; cold noodle bowls ($5.90-$8.99); rice bowls ($6.99-$7.99) and four choices of pho ($4.95-$5.49). There also is bubble tea and Vietnamese iced coffee.
