Peninsula Light customers to see rate hike in April
Peninsula Light customers will see their residential power rates rise next spring, thanks to a rate hike from wholesale power provider Bonneville Power Administration.
The rate hike will increase the average residential customer’s monthly bill by $7.74. That average monthly bill now is $88.44, the utility said.
BPA notified its utility customers in October that it is raising wholesale power rates by 5.69 percent and its power transmission rates by 4.28 percent. BPA generates most of its power from a series of Columbia River hydroelectric dams.
BPA adjusts its rates once every two years. Peninsula Light has raised its retail rates three times since 2001.
The power company serves customers in the Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula areas and Fox Island.
