Jet fuel pipeline punctured in Parkland

A jet fuel pipeline to Joint Base Lewis-McChord was punctured Wednesday in Parkland, according to the state Department of Ecology.

A contractor was working at the area of A Street East and 100th Street East when the line was punctured, Ecology spokeswoman Sandy Howard said.

The spill was contained and did not enter the water, Howard said.

Ecology crews are responding to the scene of the spill. Traffic throughout the area was being rerouted around the spill site.

The pipeline, belonging to McChord Pipeline Co., runs from the U.S. Oil refinery in the Tacoma Tideflats to the McChord airfield.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
