Gig Harbor fire crews put out early-morning house fire near Artondale that damaged home
Gig Harbor firefighters were called early Wednesday morning to a house fire that broke out at a home near Artondale on Ford Drive Northwest.
Crews with Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One extinguished the flames, and no injuries were reported. A tweet from the fire department showed damage to the single-story home and its roof.
Firefighters were dispatched to the fire at about 1:20 a.m. in the 7500 block of Ford Drive. The first arriving fire crews saw smoke and flames on the front porch. Fire officials said the only occupant of the home had already evacuated. The fire was beginning to spread into the home’s attic, and firefighters went to work putting out the blaze.
It’s unclear what caused the fire. According to the fire department, the Pierce County fire marshal is investigating.
When firefighters searched the house, the homeowner’s cat was found, fire officials said in a tweet. The pet was returned to its owner.
