Fatal fire in Edgewood mobile home: woman dies, cause under investigation

A woman with mobility challenges died during a mobile home fire in Edgewood Saturday morning.

Shortly before 11 a.m., East Pierce Fire & Rescue crews responded to a 2nd alarm fire in the mobile home near the 8200 block of 37th Street Court East. Firefighters removed the woman from the home but she died, according to East Pierce Fire & Rescue on X.

A 911 caller reported that they could see flames coming from the window of the mobile home. There was only one person in the home at the time, according to East Pierce Fire & Rescue spokeswoman Dina Sutherland.

The fire is out and the cause is being investigated. Fire crews will remain on the scene for an extended time. The public is asked to avoid the area, the X post said.
