4 displaced in Lakewood house fire

A cat died and four adults were displaced early Wednesday after a Lakewood house caught fire, according to West Pierce Fire & Rescue.

The blaze was reported about 3:30 a.m. in the 8800 block of 25th Avenue Court South.

A resident heard a noise, went outside to investigate and saw flames. A neighbor across the street also called 911.

The fire started in the garage, but it’s unclear what caused it, Battalion Chief Hallie McCurdy said.

The Red Cross was helping to find temporary housing for the displaced household.
