7 people saved from Puyallup River during storm
Central Pierce Fire & Rescue rescued seven people who were swept stranded in the Puyallup River early Wednesday after waters quickly rose around their homeless encampment.
Someone called 911 about 6 a.m. to report several people who were submerged in the water up to their waists and chests beneath the state Route 512 overpass.
Crews used a boat to bring the people out of the water one-by-one. The rescue was complete by 8 a.m. No injuries were reported.
