South Tacoma preschool among potential lead pipe sites

A south Tacoma preschool is on the list of 1,700 sites where where old lead “gooseneck” connections may have tainted the tap water, a Tacoma Public Utilities spokeswoman said Saturday.

The utility has found that no schools in the Tacoma Public Schools system are on the list of sites, spokeswoman Chris Gleason said. She declined to name the preschool or give specific information about its location, citing privacy concerns.

Notification letters went out Friday to all of the sites where Tacoma Water officials believe gooseneck connectors might be present, and email notifications about potential problems have been sent to people who completed a form on the TPU website, Gleason said.
