Tacoma sex offender charged with having sex with girl, 13
A convicted sex offender is accused of having sex with his younger brother’s 13-year-old girlfriend in a Tacoma parking garage Sunday.
Brendan Rydman, 21, told the police officers who found him and the girl that he’d taken her to the Tacoma Dome Station parking garage to teach her how to drive, according to court documents.
Surveillance footage allegedly shows the pair having sex.
The girl “said it was her idea and that the defendant should not be in trouble for anything,” charging papers show.
Rydman was convicted last year of communication with a minor for immoral purposes. He is a registered Level 1 sex offender and prohibited from having unsupervised contact with minors.
He pleaded not guilty Monday to second-degree child rape and was ordered held in lieu of $350,000 bail.
Pierce County Superior Court Commissioner Meagan Foley issued an order barring Rydman from having contact with the girl.
