A 46-year-old bicyclist was killed Friday after riding into an intersection and hitting a trailer pulled behind a fuel truck, Tacoma police said.

The bicyclist has not yet been identified.

He was riding east on East 25th Street when he passed several cars, failed to stop at the traffic signal at East G Street and went into the intersection, police said. The bike hit the trailer but the truck driver, unaware of what happened, kept going.

The bicyclist was pronounced dead shortly after the 10:30 a.m. accident.

Officers found the truck driver to ask him about the accident. The driver said he did not see the bicyclist hit his trailer and felt terrible when he heard, police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.
