Man charged in fatal shooting of Tacoma teenager arrested in Centralia
Police found and arrested a man wanted in connection to the fatal shooting of a Tacoma teenager Monday.
Alberto Colt-Sarmiento, 22, was found in Centralia, Tacoma police spokeswoman Sheblie Boyd said.
He’s charged with first-degree murder, and had a warrant for his arrest, related to the Nov. 2 death of 18-year-old Elijah Crawford.
According to charging papers:
Crawford and two friends drove to the 1800 block of East 44th Street to meet Colt-Sarmiento for a fist fight.
One of Crawford’s friends had agreed via Facebook to fight Colt-Sarmiento in Tacoma.
The two had fought in Lakewood about a month before without weapons, and added each other on Facebook after. They messaged each other during the month after the Lakewood fight, and about the end of October Colt-Sarmiento said he wanted to fight him again. They agreed to a fight with no weapons.
Crawford and the other friend came along, but did not plan to get involved, as long as the fight was fair.
When they arrived, saw Colt-Sarmiento, and got out of the car, a man wearing a hood and bandana over his face ran at them and started shooting.
Crawford’s 20-year-old friend was also injured in the shooting, but was expected to survive.
Detectives think Colt-Sarmiento set up the ambush. They have not identified the shooter.
Further details about Colt-Sarmiento’s arrest were not immediately available.
