Elderly Pierce County veteran killed in house fire identified
An elderly, disabled veteran died early Thursday in a house fire, Central Pierce Fire & Rescue reported.
The Pierce County Medical Examiner identified the man as 72-year-old Don Yet.
Firefighters were called to an address in the 14100 block of East 13th Avenue East, near Brookdale Golf Course, about 9 a.m., Central Pierce spokesman Guy Overby said.
They found fire in the house and a man suffering burns around his head and neck, Overby said.
Firefighters performed CPR on the man as he was taken to an area hospital, but he died, Overby said. No one else was in the house.
Cause of the fire was not immediately released.
