Reward offered for information in fatal stabbing at Sumner truck stop

A non-profit group is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever fatally stabbed a truck driver at a Sumner truck stop.

Piotr Pietrzykowski, 52, was found dead in the cab of his tractor-trailer March 8 by an employee at the Mustard Seed Market Deli & Travel Plaza, 2320 136th Ave. E.

Police said Pietrzykowsi may have argued with someone earlier in the night but they have not made an arrest.

On Saturday, volunteers from Pierce County Search and Rescue spent eight hours combing the plaza area for evidence but did not find much.

Pietrzykowsi was passing through the area and is from Elgin, Illinois. He left behind a wife and 8-year-old son.

The non-profit truckersfinalmile recently announced the reward in hopes of generating tips. The organization is also raising money to get Pietrzykowski’s body home.

Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to call the Sumner Police Department’s tip line at 253-299-5678.

Donations can be made at truckersfinalmile.org.
