1 dead, 2 injured after overnight shooting in Tacoma’s South End

Three people were shot toward the end of Friday night in Tacoma’s South End, and police have been unable to gather much information from the “completely uncooperative” victims, a spokeswoman said.

One person has since died and a second remains under guard at the hospital, said Tacoma police Officer Shelbie Boyd. A third person has been released from the hospital. No additional information was available Saturday afternoon.

Boyd said the three victims transported themselves to a local hospital’s emergency room with gunshot wounds and little inclination to discuss them with investigators. They all arrived at about midnight Saturday, within five minutes of each other.

Police managed to put together that the victims all knew each other and were shot near the intersection of South 48th Street and South Yakima Avenue, Boyd said.

Detectives will investigate the shootings further, Boyd said. She did not know the severity of the injuries or which hospital had treated them.
