Man shot dead in Parkland after fight
Pierce County sheriff’s detectives on Wednesday were investigating the shooting death of a man in Parkland.
Neighbors near Pacific Avenue South and 127th Street South called 911 about 4:35 a.m. to report hearing a fight.
“They went out and found a guy dead from gunshot wounds,” sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.
Pierce County medical examiners identified the man as Lorenzo Parks, 38. His cause of death was a gunshot wound to the torso.
Troyer said Parks lived in Spanaway.
His body was found in the parking lot of a local business.
No one has been arrested and detectives have not established a motive.
“We do potentially have an armed and dangerous person out on the loose,” Troyer said.
Based on where bullet shells were found, investigators believe the fight started in front of a market and moved across the street to the parking lot.
Both directions of state Route 7 between Tule Lake and 125th Street South were closed until 10:25 a.m. because of the investigation.
