Sound Transit seeks public input on $50 billion expansion plan
People with something to say to Sound Transit about its $50 billion proposal to expand light rail and other transit options over the next 25 years have until April 29 to do so.
The regional transit agency has set up a website, which includes an online survey, at soundtransit3.org.
The site includes more detailed information about proposed projects, including connecting Tacoma to Sea-Tac Airport by light rail.
It also contains a link to a survey that allows folks to rate specific projects in the plan.
The agency also is accepting comments via mail, email and phone about the proposal, which would necessitate increases in property, motor-vehicle excise and sales taxes.
Mailed comments should be sent to Sound Transit 3, 401 S. Jackson St., Seattle, WA 98104. Emailed comments can be sent to soundtransit3@soundtransit.org.
People wishing to leave a phone message should call 206-903-7000. Folks who would like to comment in a language other than English can call 1-800-823-9230.
Sound Transit also has scheduled public meetings for those who wish to give their opinions in person. South Sound meetings are:
▪ Tacoma, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. April 21 at Evergreen State College-Tacoma, 1210 Sixth Ave.
▪ Federal Way, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. April 28 at Todd Beamer High School, 35999 16th Ave. S.
Comments about the proposal will be forwarded to the Sound Transit board as it finalizes a plan by June to submit to voters Nov. 8.
