The dog that joined a marathon and finished in 7th place
To be sure, no one expected this 2-year-old bloodhound to enter the Elkmonth Half Marathon in this sleepy Alabama hamlet northwest of Huntsville.
And likely no one expected her to finish seventh, or to make national headlines for days and days to follow.
But some dog stories, like some dogs, demonstrate surprising endurance.
Race organizers say its, er, dogged 7th-place finisher has put the event on the map. They are changing the race’s name to Elkmont’s Hound Dog Half.
