City of Centralia announces high‑voltage line clearance tree trimming project beginning May 11

May 4-The City of Centralia will begin a major high‑voltage line‑clearance tree‑trimming project on May 11 to ensure continued reliability and safety across its electrical system.

The work will be performed by Xylem/Kemp West, a contractor specializing in utility vegetation management, a news release from the City of Centralia announced.

The project area includes power line circuits located south of the Skookumchuck River and east of Interstate 5. Crews will operate from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, until the work is completed. The project is expected to conclude no later than Dec. 31.

All trimming will be conducted in accordance with ANSI A300 Standards, the industry benchmark for proper tree‑care practices.

Work will be performed under the supervision of an ISA‑certified arborist/line‑clearance tree trimmer. Any vegetation removed during the project will be fully cleaned up and hauled away from adjacent properties.

Residents seeking additional information about the project may visit the city's website at www.cityofcentralia.com/251/Tree-Trimming.
