Rainier man killed in head-on crash
A Rainier man was killed Friday after a head-on crash with a semi-truck on the Columbia River Highway near Deer Island.

Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at about 1:47 p.m., near milepost 34, according to a press release from the Oregon State Police.
A gold Nissan Pathfinder, driven by Gary Michael George, 69, of Rainier, was heading east when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with a loaded white semi-truck, driven by Kulwinder Singh, 36, of Auburn, the press release states.
George was pronounced dead at the scene, and Singh was not injured.
The Nissan Pathfinder was seen passing other vehicles in the oncoming lane before the crash, the press release states.
Singh reportedly remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The highway was impacted for about three hours due to the investigation.
