Unions: Attacks on labor come fast and hard
While we enjoyed picnics and family over Labor Day weekend, we should remember those who sacrificed life and limb decades ago so we could now enjoy the wages and benefits that unions provide.
In 2016, right-wing groups like the Freedom Foundation are calling our members’ homes urging them to quit the union and save their dues dollars because the union does nothing for them. It’s unbelievable for a non-profit to act this way. Call State Attorney General Bob Ferguson if you feel the Freedom Foundation is violating 501(C):3 rules.
Unfortunately, Republican politicians this year also want to limit or remove our ability even to have a union represent us in the workplace by instituting so called “Right to Work” laws.
Ask your state senator and representatives, city and county council members if they support your freedom to join a union and bargain collectively for improvement in wages, benefits and working conditions. According to their national platforms, Democrats do support unions and Republicans don’t. In November, vote accordingly.
