PLU: First Lutheran college to hire openly gay universtiy pastor

Re: “Matt Driscoll: PLU welcomes first openly gay university pastor at a Lutheran college” (TNT, 9/29).

In Driscoll’s entire commentary, God was only mentioned once. The newly hired pastor, Jen Rude, said campus ministry was a place “to have questions to cry, and be angry at God, all that kind of stuff.”

She cannot say, “Well, I just meant being mad at God.” That is irreverence in a pastor. How bizarre and unchristian. She was right to have wondered if there was a place for her in the church. There is a place for everyone in God’s church but hers is not as a pastor.

PLU interviewed and hired her so it must subscribe to her theology. I think PLU should be honest and remove the “L”. PLU does not need a pastor.
